Obtuse

ob·tuse/əbˈt(y)o͞os/

  • Annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand
    • – he wondered if the doctor was being deliberately obtuse
  • Difficult to understand
    • – some of the lyrics are a bit obtuse
  • (of an angle) More than 90° and less than 180°
  • Not sharp-pointed or sharp-edged; blunt
My new favorite word. Why? I actually have no idea. I rediscovered it watching House: MD and then again in a blog. It just tickles my fancy. It’s like bhindi (hindi for okra). I was obsessed with it as a 2 year old (according to mom’s spectacularly illustrated stories about me running around in a home-made, bed sheet cape, screaming, ‘bhindi, bhindi!’ and laughing). 😀
What’s yours?
